April is Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month. Now-a-days everyone is under some level of stress (if you aren’t- please share your magical secrets!). There are many factors that can contribute to stress, but the list of how it affects your body is even longer. Stress can cause physical problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and chest pain; show on you visibly though hair loss, increase in acne, pre-mature aging; and can even change the neurochemical makeup of the human body- and that is just to name a few.
I don’t know about you, but none of those sound good to me, so we at Soak would like to share a few Tips for Stress Management.
  1. Think POSITIVE. As “The King of Rock ‘n’ roll” Elvis Presley himself said “When things go wrong, don’t go with them.”

3. Eat Wisely- Here are 8 foods that help lower anxiety and stress.

5. Sit in your Hot Tub!
In an article titled “Alternative and Complementary Modalities for Managing Stress and Anxiety”, Lynn Keegan, RN, PhD, HNC believes that by immersing your body in warm water you can help reduce your stress levels. Soaking in your hot tub for about 20-30 minutes has the same effect on your autonomic nervous system as other stress reducing activities, such as exercise.

What else is happening in April?

April 7th- World Health Day

World Health Day is the anniversary of founding of the World Health Organization. Each year they pick a theme to focus their campaign on. 2017’s campaign is focus is Depression. “Depression affects people of all ages, from all walks of life, in all countries. It causes mental anguish and impacts on people’s ability to carry out even the simplest everyday tasks, with sometimes devastating consequences for relationships with family and friends and the ability to earn a living. At worst, depression can lead to suicide, now the second leading cause of death among 15-29-year olds.” If you would like to help provide support those who suffer from depression or assist with research programs, please join us in contributing to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America by CLICKING HERE.

April 10th- Siblings Day

In honor of Sibling’s Day we will be hosting a photo contest. Post a photo to Facebook or Instagram of you and your siblings in a hot tub and tag Soak Hot Tubs & Endless Pools or #SoakBasalt. The winner will receive two Yeti Colsters. Contest will end the last day of April!
